Trip to IAF Base Salua

Well yesterday evening I came along with Mama and Dada to Mama's house in Howrah, as Dada suggested my presence with them in the IAF Base Salua, near Kharagpur, West Bengal as I am very keen about these. Though there isnt a air strip to where I was going, the airstrip was located in Golaikonda, few kilometres apart from Salua, and Salua being a base of IAF Communications hosts number of radards, power houses, tracking and other high tech instruments. Today morning I left with them by Santro Xing (mama's car). I was in the back seat with Dada. Mama was in front seat, beside driver Laltu Mama but I would have been excited more if Mama drove, cause he is best driver I have seen in practical life. Anyway we kick started around 7:30 as I woke up around 7 though after sleeping late with mama after watching Spiderman 3 lately yesterday. We left through Bombay road, the roads were very clear and pleasant to drive. Weather was little sunny in the morning but eventually it turned overcast, my favourite type with pleasant wind. I was out today for refreshment from daily schedule. We travelled through outskirts of Kolkata and crossed 2 toll tax plazas into out of Kolkata to Medinipur districts of West Bengal. We ate our breakfast, one of memorable breakfasts I ever had just crossing the Bridge to Kolaghat in the left, in a little dhaba. The menu was hot ruti with mixed veg which is based on Palang paneer. Ya it was delicious and favourite meal of the day, and perhaps months. We reached Kharagpur around 10 and we drove through IIT Kharagpur, the first time I saw it from inside. Then we left the campus and entered the IAF premises. Sense of alert rose in me, I cant express since it is special to me. The circle logo with Orange circle on out, then white and inner green spot is very accustomed to me and I can see it everywhere inside the compound. We had to issue gate by pass orders filling a form with necessary informations. We were going to Power House, where there would be a work on Generators. The premise and compound was gigantic with lush green, helipads, satellite radars and just green and green with lots of complexes. The first time I saw large huge generators for power supply in the Power house of IAF Salua. Mama described functions of different parts. Gradually and frankly, I felt a little boring to stay at a single place for long long hours but it was okay for the expirience which made up eventually. We went for lunch in a small dhaba inside IAF premises
(they say the adjacent to Mandir dhaba one), it was very very decent and little dhaba and very cheap one. Though the food tasted good, may be as I like these little things of life much much more than luxurious restaurants. We ate rice, dal, sabji. Then there were little work left and finally we left the premises around 4:30. Again the same way back. But while returning we stopped at Sher-e-Punjab dhaba, a famous one in Kolaghat, where we had masala dosa. Saw few beautiful girls there too. :) .
We returned to mama's house around 6 I think. Then lifted mom from there and returned to home. The total package was excellent and worth life remember.
